The aim of the AI PSYCHE research-intervention program is an in-depth diagnosis of types of human interaction with artificial intelligence and the strengthening of awareness of the effects that intensified contact with AI may entail.
The AI PSYCHE program assumes that frequent use of AI chatbots, associated with experiencing strong immersion in interaction with artificial intelligence, will in the long term lead to: a. deterioration of psychological well-being (intrapersonal effects), b. generally poorer functioning in the domain of interpersonal relationships, and c. deterioration of cognitive functioning in the socio-political domain (e.g., worse ability to recognize false information). At the same time, we do not exclude the possibility of protective effects (e.g., temporary reduction of anxiety or a sense of loneliness), which will also be the subject of our research. The implementation of the project will enable the identification and characterization of different attitudes toward artificial intelligence and the effects of its intensive use over a longer period (measured over three years in the same individuals). The culmination of the project will be a film that will provide knowledge on how to use chatbots safely.
Action 1: Diagnosis
We will conduct comprehensive research to better understand how Polish women and men use AI chatbots and what attitudes they have toward them.
Action 2: Intervention testing
We will conduct experimental studies to examine how to effectively communicate the topic of AI chatbots. The aim is to develop messages that promote safe, informed, and healthy use of this technology.
Action 3: Promotion and education
We will disseminate the research findings and knowledge through:
